The caleidoscope called mediumship - the end

Just the other day I was inspired to describe mediumship, my perception of it  .. the whole palette of it .. and because I have a mind that works with pictures it took on a form .. the form of a caleidoscope.

Mediumship

Mediumship is divided in mental and physical mediumship, with the note to get an idea of them both, that in physical mediumship everyone can observe that "something" is happening. Also, that the majority of mediums are working on a mental level.
Well, that was a huge discovery when I started the exploration, that, as well as the fact that there is a difference between a psychic and a spiritual medium.

In the Netherlands we have many mediums, but it was in the United Kingdom that I learnt about the difference between a psychic and a spiritual medium. In fact every spiritual medium uses their psychic abilities, and in learning how to attune to the Spirit world, we learn to become purer in our mediumistic abilities.

This article you are reading right now is not supposed to become a studybook (yet). All I wanted to inform you of is the vastness of the world of mediumship.
In my perception it cannot be clearly understood without knowledge of the history and philosophy of Spiritualism. SNU (http://www.snu.org.uk/and SNUi http://www.snui.org/ offer the possibility of written courses to help deepen your understanding.

My palette

It started with clairaudience. Then came the knowing, the seeing, the sensing started to become very prominent and grew into healing.

There were the healing stones .. worked with them on myself for years .. they have been a handhold for years.

The healing oils, herbs, Bach remedies, aura soma, cards. Dowsing was an interesting chapter as well. The interest in chakras as a way of helping to heal the human system has been used for years as well and still is .. Understanding the influence of colour in life made colour even more important.

All things mentioned have been so important in my personal development and the realization that there is so much more to life, to healing than we'll ever know is present.
Also the realization, that as humans we are not able to grasp it all.

The best part of it all

All of the above mentioned is of course the description of a personal development and the realization that we HAVE to discover the soul that WE are, that we are unique, is very important.
The veil that makes your uniqueness accessible .. the magic component (in my view) is Meditation. Mastering the art of becoming still is the best part of it all. There, in your stillness, lies the key to it all.

An anecdote

A couple of years ago at the Arthur Findlay College I ended up in a weekend course I had not booked! Imagine that!! Of course I could switch to the one I initially booked, but I decided to just let it happen. It was an art course, where we did a number of funny exercises. One of them was to walk through the building and let the energy inspire us. Back in the classroom we had to work in groups and some of the students were drawing faces, that of course had to be "recognized". I did not draw, but felt such a strong urge to mention out loud, that on one of the pictures I saw the face of Edward Bach, founder of the Bach remedies and on another one the face of Vicki Wall founder of the Aura Soma products. Mind you .. the other students did not know them, most of them had never heard of them, but they were there .. I recognized those faces from their books I studied before. Soooo, I could not get confirmation from someone else, it was just me, until during the break, one of the students came to me and said to me that on both occasions, when mentioning the names, there was a sudden beam of light in the room (on a dreary winter's day). Nooo I had not noticed that, but to me it was all the confirmation I needed.

Quote

I want to end this series of Blogposts on mediumship with the following quote by Paul Gardner from the book The Artist's way by Julia Cameron.

"A painting is never finished - it simply stops in interesting places".

I found this quote appropriate, because in my perception the medium is a creative soul, working with their palette of possibilities while doing their job.

Enjoy the ride.

With love
