2 januari 2025

Listening

Listen to the sounds of nature

Listen with your eyes wide and shut off

From everything else but You in the moment

Use your senses and know ..

It is a gift to be aware of Your presence

In that great big universe

Strength and Hope are everywhere

Why look outside when there is You

Find that force inside of you

That force that makes you grow

Into that lovely soul

That is the ultimate you

Lieve groet,

Juliet Joan

“If you feel “lost” and don’t know what to do anymore .. Try to let go ..
Breathe in and breathe out.
Found your own rhythm? Take a deep sigh.
Put your hands on your tummy and feel it getting warm and safer and more quiet.
When you feel, that it is okay,
Well .. then it is okay :0)”

To DREAM (Life is a journey); part 2

Last year in June, I wrote a post "To DREAM (Life is a journey ...)" and today there is the urge to write about the same theme again.
Should you be interested you can always hop over to the old one and look!

https://foetoejepi.blogspot.nl/2015/06/to-dream-life-is-journey.html

Evaluation

Years ago, at the end of an interesting series of classes I had to make an evaluation of my strong points and my weak points. Well, that in itself was a challenge because it felt like judgement day and I have never really believed in that. But .. well, there I was, taking up the challenge.

Are you familiar with the feeling of looking at yourself and appreciating and "seeing" your good qualities PLUS the feeling of looking at your qualities "in need of a bit of polishing"? You will never ever hear me express myself in terms of "weakness" or "negativity". Those words carry such a load and are too influential .. so .. NO please! Maybe change them into "#sensitivity (vulnerability)" or "heaviness". Heaviness can be transformed into lightness .. see :0)

To DREAM

Exercises like mentioned above are in fact eye-openers. They can help you to look at yourself honestly and with a fresh and open attitude and that does not hurt, does it. It can help finding out where some ideas and opinions about yourself come from. Are they yours or have they been "inflicted" upon you?
Dreaming about that, trying to get in touch with your subconscious mind for instance through meditation can help to bring insight and the freedom to roam around and find your own path .. the road towards your beautiful Self.

A compliment

Is there something you wish to #compliment yourself about right now?
Please do so and enjoy the feeling!!

Natural Philosophy - an introduction

Introduction into Natural Philosophy – resume of an address (2013)

Today’s philosophy is inspired by Will Ford’s book “The seeing eye, the feeling heart, the philosophy of natural mediumship”. Will Ford born in 1913 in Wales, has been called the father of Welsh Spiritualism. He has been a working medium for 65 years and over half a century a Spiritualist minister, healer, teacher, philosopher and President of the SNU in South Wales. In his book he shares his love for nature and simplicity in a way that shows his experience in guiding and stimulating others to find their own truths in life.
For my address I have been especially inspired by the part where Will Ford referred to personal growth.  I would like to approach it by connecting it to the 7th principle of Spiritualism – eternal progress open to every human soul.

Philosophy
On a certain day, some years ago, we were born. If we are lucky it would have been in a household with a caring and loving mother and father. We were being fed, taken care of on a regular basis, we had the chance to learn about life through the experience of our parents.

Later in life when going to school we received education and we had to learn about facts of life to cope with life through connecting with friends, neighbours, the teachers we had.

Well, in everyone’s life there comes a moment to decide, how we are going to give meaning to our life. It may well be, that we come at a point in our lives where we find, that the values we have lived by, don’t work for us anymore. This can become a turning point in our lives. By trying to find out what is right for us and how we would like to live our lives, it suddenly dawns on us, that there are forces to overcome, other peoples’ ideas and convictions to meet.
This is one natural law.

What is happening here is that we are breaking a routine, a lifetime of assumptions, which is not easy. I like to compare this moment with the way nature sometimes works ...

If you picture in your mind’s eye a desert. It hasn’t rained for years. The landscape is empty of water and vegetation, you can see a dry riverbed, and everything looks desolate. Then there comes a storm. Rain lashes down for days and after the rain has stopped all traces of what was, have gone. Because of the heavy downpour there is a river. The old riverbed has completely washed away because of all the force and the new river, another form, another way to transport the water has been formed. I am talking about patterns here, of course. You don’t need such a heavy storm to change your ways, do you? By growing, developing, by finding your inner strength you can become the person you are meant to be. Is there someone else who can point that way out to you? I truly don’t think so.

I do love the way Will Ford describes “growth” in comparison with nature and the care we should take in working the ground in order for seeds to grow appeals to me so much.

Think for a moment of yourself as a living creature, the one that was born on a certain day, some years ago .. Now, do you have any idea how many seeds have been planted into your mind from that time, just waiting for you to care for them and to feed them, so that one day you can harvest?  Now that you are able to express your own free will, you can follow your natural instincts and you have it in you to truly develop your own soul, your own spirit.

Have you ever realized that that is what life is all about? To discover our own personality, to find our own truth, our destination, our own nature that will always be slightly different from the other person? That it is about acceptance? Accepting your own true self and respecting the other one’s true self as well? Have you ever realized you’re on the path to your own truth, your own reality and that you are a part of that great big universe, that we truly do not comprehend but must accept as a given reality, and that we are all on a similar path?
Each and every one of us has the road to walk and develop and learn and that just because of that, we need each other, to support our individuality. Yes, we share so much because we are all part of that great big universe and we all want answers, because that is human nature. Have you ever found out how many answers you already have? That they are within you and you can reach them by becoming quiet/ becoming at one with .. nature?

I have asked you so many questions. These are all questions that lead to your own personal answers plus the realization that we are here to learn from each other and to reach out to each other. It is in giving that we receive, are words as old as the world, words that we find in many different religions, and we as Spiritualists can give meaning to at our own personal level.

Conclusion.
We are gathered here together in a virtual Sanctuary where our faith is called Spiritualism. We have chosen for this religion, this direction where we are allowed the liberty of speech, freedom of thought and where we have the opportunity to discuss our views and explore ideas that have to do with life in the here and now, life on earth and because we believe in life after this life, find out about life hereafter and deliver or receive messages that give proof of existence. We believe that our body is the material vessel for our soul and our spirit and after our existence here on earth, we pass on to another level of existence, and we become part of the spirit world where we have shed all material things. What counts there is our level of understanding, the level we have been able to reach here on earth and where we have that level as a starting point to go on with our development.

Now, at the end of my address, once again I want to refer to words of Will Ford as he uses the metaphor “natural philosophy is like the gardener’s manual instructing you how best to prepare the soil and tend the plants so as to maximize growth” and I start wondering again, wondering about happiness, something we all look for. What are the ingredients?
I want to leave you with these thoughts and the realization that you can probably do it, make your life a fertile garden. Let it bloom!

With love,
Juliet Joan

Beautiful performance in dance and music .. a reflection of the emotions mentioned in my previous blog

Rumi - poem of the atoms

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA8lS3J14Bg

Oh.. sun, do rise so the atoms dance
THE one who causes the earth and the heavens to dance

Joyful souls, in ecstasy, they dance
I whisper into your ears where it is that they dance

Inside the cell or out in the space
In the wilderness and in the air
Adore every atom that exists
Cause they, too, like us
Are befuddled and amazed

Whether in the state of keen pleasure
Or in the state of deep sorrow
Each atom,
By the ineffable sun,
Is mystified and perplexed ...

Trust

12 years ago I wrote this blogpost and it is still so valuable to me today, August 12, 2025.

“Question: Is It Only the Minority That Can Understand Spiritual Truth?

My favourite reading for today is from the Silver Birch book on questions and answers.

“Question: Is it only the minority who can understand spiritual truth?

Answer: The truths of the spirit are very simple. They can be grasped by all; they are intended for all. It is not part of the divine plan that there should be a small sect, a divinely favored few. It is the many we are trying to reach because it is the many with whom we are concerned.”

Interpretation Truth and Trust

Every now and then a thought, an idea, a word, comes into my mind and I start pondering on it.

The word TRUST, such a small step away from TRUTH, came to me in April 2012, when I was at the Arthur Findlay College and I decided to give it a go on the platform in the Sanctuary. What better place to “play” with an idea and get inspired than in a place where the Spirit World is most tangible.
Now, about two months later, I can still feel the joy of presenting it, I can still feel the inspiration, I still know some of the words spoken then.
When I think of TRUST I feel there is experience behind it and learning.

Being Your Self

Fortunately, most of us have the memory of a pair of loving eyes and hands that took care of us when we were babies. We knew, we would be taken care of right after we woke up from a deep and healthy sleep. We knew we would be fed and changed into fresh diapers, we could TRUST on that.

When we started our way further into the world and tried to literally stand on our own two feet, at one point we knew we could TRUST ourselves to be able to just do that.
The next stage .. walking .. putting one foot in front of the other .. the experience .. the excitement .. the falling .. the encouragement from our loved ones to try it again .. the TRUST .. that we can do it .. we can walk!!
For most of us those days are long gone. They have changed into a lifetime of discoveries about ourselves and we have found out, that we can build on all those moments that have brought us in the here and now. We have arrived and passed the stage where we discover that we have to TRUST ourselves and our own capabilities. No longer can we put our TRUST into someone else to tell us what to do or what not to do, what is good for us and what is not. We have progressed into human beings with our own personal responsibility.

Trust Does Not Come Easy

TRUST. This 5-letter word does not come easy. Many of the people I know, including myself, are holding back on themselves. Either they feel they are not good enough to do what they would love to do, or someone else is telling them they are not good enough. For some strange or sad reason they have missed the part where we have to find out that in flying away from our parental houses, we have to be ready to cope with life. We have to have developed ways of caring for ourselves, for loving ourselves, TRUSTING our own ways and judgement.

Living a Spiritual Life

It is my conviction, that for each and everyone alive on this earth there comes a time when we turn to living a more Spiritual life, meaning, we try to find out about life and what it is about. It is in understanding the little things of life, or should I say, accepting life as it develops around us, that we can find peace, that we can TRUST things will become right for us, once again. It is like a universal law, inevitable.

Childhood - Spirituality - Ours - Normal Behavior?

Some of us have known a childhood filled with Spirituality. Growing up, for instance, in a Churchgoing family, teaches us the rules of conduct in our society. These rules are usually very strong and strict and with the development of our individuality we tend to turn away from them. In fact, we turn away from rigidity. Then, especially when we find ourselves in a difficult situation, it is discovered that people are turning towards some form of Spirituality. In times of war or natural disasters people discover they need one another to survive. This is a natural law. This is what we then learn. We have to take care of each other and I’m speaking here about normal and healthy human behavior. The joining and sharing of forces, of knowledge to survive comes to the surface. This is also a matter of TRUST. Natural laws cannot be broken.

Overcoming Fear

One of the main things to overcome here is fear. It seems, that in growing up, we allow ourselves to be kept in a position where we don’t explore anymore like when we were children. We are afraid to explore ways to develop and grow. Have we forgotten the joy of discovering what lies around the corner, what is waiting for us out there?
This is an open invitation to all of you out there. Don’t hide .. show yourself in all your beauty, discover your own way to start blooming again, re-LEARN who you really are, TRUST, have faith, BE ..

With love,
Juliet Joan
