It is only 6 years ago, that I first heard of Spiritualism, a religion, that has really captured me.
Studying and contemplating the Seven Principles, that form its basis has become a daily exercise.
Within these Principles I have found a way to live my life and explain to myself and to others if they are interested what they enfold. The beauty of them (for me) is that they are open to personal interpretation.
I must admit, that in the beginning they frightened me, not being brought up in a churchgoing family, they seemed strange and I wanted to stay away, afraid to lose my own being and becoming part of something that would "swallow" me.
Today's truth is, that it has given me richness and openness and ground for standing firmly on my own two feet .. well most of the time anyways.
These coming days I shall publish their interpretation as I saw and felt them four years ago with some addition.
Number 1 - The fatherhood of
God
When trying to
explain the first principle I find, that I keep thinking about the symbolism of
the words. To me these words are based on an interpretation of the symbolism of
Mother and Father and more specifically on the description I found in David
Fontana’s - The language of symbols. He describes the mother archetype as the
nurturing, caring side of human nature, which begins to express itself from
birth in a child’s suckling and attachment behaviour. Also, the mother is the
ruler of the unseen world of emotions and feelings.
The father
archetype emerged later and could be interpreted as a protective presence, the
wise king of legend, the just lawgiver and judge, omnipotent and as the start
of strength we need to live our lives. To me these words have even more meaning
when I think about God the Father in the heavens and Mother Nature here on
earth, enfolding everything that is in between, including all life here on
earth and we, as individuals being part of that infinite universe.
I could then
describe the meaning of the First Principle as infinity, as universal energy, a
power that feeds us, that keeps us going, that is Love, in fact forms a perfect
basis for a true and sincere life, and maybe most importantly gives meaning to
the way we as living beings are connected. This, of course, is nothing new and is
described beautifully in the words of Chief Seattle:
This
we know: all things are connected
Like the blood which unites
one family.
All things are connected.
Whatever befalls the earth
Befalls the sons of the
earth.
Man did not weave the web
of life.
He is merely a strand in
it.
Whatever he does to the
web.
He does to himself.

My granddaughter is 9 today. What a gift, she feels to me like the continuity of my roots, my background and wisdom. Yes, just like you, I am a wise being, developing and learning every day spent here on earth. And she will grow and have her personal learning experiences.
Having the possibility and understanding to share knowledge and love and peace of mind and heart is a gift I embrace fully.
