In August 2014 I met Linda Muir in Scotland.
Linda, now a Spiritualist Minister, has studied with Will Ford, also known as "the father of Welsh Spiritualism", for over a decade and together they published a book on the philosophy of Natural Mediumship, called "The seeing eye, the feeling heart". This book has been in my possession for some years now, and it has been a source of inspiration.
In 2003 Linda published another book " The taste of strawberries; a guide to inner space" and she was kind enough to give me a copy. She has also given me permission to write a review.
The proceeds of the book will be contributed to The Candle Trust, which is a Scottish charity.
The book is an account of Laura’s life with
her spiritual inspirer, Sybil.
It seems like an easy read at first, but in
fact the subtitle, “a guide to inner space” already indicates something different.
This is the story of a woman, discovering
the three A’s throughout her spiritual journey ..
·
Aspiration – aiming for the
highest and the best (that one can
achieve)
·
Adaptability – never stick with
rigid expectations
·
Acceptance – accept what comes
during your development. (p. 116)
The book describes the difference between
psychic and spiritual awareness and takes you, playfully, through techniques of
relaxation, self-healing, spiritual healing, visualisations and mindfulness.
I loved reading the book, it was in fact a
feast of recognition, but having an inquiring mind, I would have loved a
register in it, so I could use it as a reference book. On the other hand, giving the impression of a
novella, that is exactly the beauty of it.
My copy is filled with little notes to take
me back to those words and phrases that have captured my mind, it has a dreamy-like quality where we
can understand exactly phrases like .. “ you are not intended for consumption. You
are intended for transformation” (p. 119) and “I am an experiment” (p. 40).
This is a interesting book for everyone in need of encouragement and
support on their life’s journey.
