Meditation .. how to begin?

Question

“Hey! A question. Do I need something special to start and meditate?” 

This could be you question, right?

 

Well, without being a Spiritualist at the time, around 1987, it was very important for me to find out more about that subject. My mind needed to come to rest, I needed more focus, you name it and meditation seemed to give a perfect solution.

 

The usual suggestions received were:

* Use a special cushion to sit on

* Decorate a section of your house, specifically for that purpose

* You will certainly need music

* Doorbell, phone should be off

* Inform your family (if not living on your own), that you are not to

   be disturbed – discipline in the household


In my experience these suggestions were fine in that perfect situation where you did not have a busy household, where you had a place for yourself “where no one can disturb you” and a perfect body enabling you to take the yoga position of sitting on a pillow or in the lotus position. 

 

I feel strongly, that meditation should be open to everyone, everywhere and when needed. If you have a family, why not invite them to make this a family occasion?

Later, I found out, that for me, in Spiritualism, this is also a wonderful way to connect with the Spirit world. In your meditation you can take with you the wish to get a better understanding of Spirit, to feel the closeness of Spirit and let everything else just go.

Meditation on music



In June of this year (2021) I started with a group 
called "Meditation Moment" on Zoom on Tuesday afternoons, where we just sit and relax on the sound of music chosen by me and influenced by the needs of the participants. 
In the meantime I have stopped organising this class, because it is time for something different, not just for myself but also for the participants now that the lockdown period, due to covid, is over
