To meet, to encounter, to gather ..

English is a beautiful, expressive language and it is interesting to note how the Dutch language has developed during the last 20-30 years, becoming more expressive than before. At least, that is how I perceive it. These last months I have been busy, not writing enough and as a matter of fact .. not in English.

This morning, having a coffee with my favourite person and a piece of my favourite cake (hard mocca), I noticed with pleasure the following text on the envelope with cutlery and decided to share this with you.(Note: usually we only have a small fork to consume our cake, but with this specific treat I always like to have a knife in order to enjoy my cake a bit longer, that's why the knife is missing).

The bakery shop/lunchroom we were visiting is making their visitors feel very welcome.

Let me translate the text for you:

" To meet .. verb

1. meeting one another in

a nice place in the neighbourhood

where bread and coffee connect us"

Just loved the text, feeling happy, while having a bite of the delicious cake and a great latte macchiato, watching the Saturday market outdoors and the many pedestrians strolling along.

Life felt good!

This little bit of text, to me, is very inviting. Do you remember Barbra Streisand's people who meet people. Let me make it clear, I don't need people around me all the time, but there is this need to connect and to share and to compare, which is only natural and human I think.

With love,

Juliet Joan
