"It's okay to be different".

This Blogpost was first published in March 2011, updated in 2017 and guess what .. still valid today, January 13, 2022.

With all that's going on in the world today, it feels to me that in this world filled with communication, even more so than 5-10-20 years ago .. communication accessible to many more people, we are near the point where everyone should re-assess all the values they have held for a lifetime. The key words now, seem to have become DIVERSITY and INCLUSION.

"You don't need to be like everyone else, you're perfect just as you are!"

Deze post heb ik ruim 5 jaar geleden geschreven en ik voel de behoefte het nogmaals onder de aandacht te brengen. Groot eeuwigheids-gehalte volgens mij.

This post was written more than 5 years ago and I feel the need today to bring it forward again. In my opinion there is eternal truth in it.

Je hoeft niet hetzelfde te zijn als iedereen, je bent perfect zoals je bent. Waarom is dat soms zo moeilijk te accepteren? Deze tekst vraagt er gewoon om de woorden van Marianne Williamson aan te halen, woorden zo mooi en oprecht, dat Nelson Mandela ze uitsprak tijdens zijn intreerede als president van Zuid-Afrika.

Such simple words, so difficult to live sometimes. Why is it that our own uniqueness should be hidden from the rest of the world? This feels like I have to quote those beautiful words written by Marianne Williamson and used by Nelson Mandela so many years ago, when he became the first black president of South Africa..

Marianne Williamson - Onze diepste angst/our deepest fear

"Onze diepste angst is niet, dat we ontoereikend zijn.
Onze diepste angst is dat we oneindig krachtig zijn.
Het is ons licht, niet onze duisternis, waar we het allerbangst voor zijn.
We vragen ons af: wie ben ik dat ik briljant, buitengewoon aantrekkelijk, getalenteerd en geweldig zou zijn?
Maar waarom eigenlijk niet? Je bent toch een kind van God? Dat je jezelf kleiner voordoet dan je bent, komt de wereld niet ten goede.
Er is niets verheffends aan je kleiner voor te doen dan je bent opdat de mensen om je heen zich vooral niet onzeker gaan voelen.
Wij zijn geboren om de luister van God uit te dragen die in ons woont. Niet slechts in enkelen van ons, maar in ons allemaal.
Als wij ons licht laten schijnen, geven we anderen onbewust toestemming om dat ook te doen.
Als wij bevrijd zijn van onze eigen angst, bevrijdt onze aanwezigheid automatisch anderen."

Het bovenstaande is een concept waar ik zelf nog regelmatig mee worstel. Heeft dat te maken met mens-zijn, bescheidenheid, onzekerheid of ..
