Matters of the heart - 7 - Balance

A couple of years ago I promised myself to start a series of Blogposts on Matters of the Heart. Well, today here is part nr. 7 - Balance.

The heart chakra is about love. Love of self and love of others. The colours that resonate with it best are pink and green. The element is air. Think of earth and all her abundance. Feel the beating of your heart in tune with your breath .. Feel the expansion of your lungs .. You may BREATHE.

The 31st of March 2021.

It is a couple of days over 1 year ago that the world went in lockdown. Total lockdown because of a pandemic due to the covid-19 virus.

The situation was very strange. Everybody had to find out how to bring new balance into their life. Children could not go to school anymore, adults could not go to their offices anymore, there is no possibility to go and party, all kinds of celebrations had to be postponed to an unknown date .. and the world fell still. There was hardly any traffic on the highways, no white lines of planes in the sky, it was bizarre.

Today, we are still in lockdown, after some periods of being able to enjoy more "freedom". Every individual had to face this and as usual adapting to new situations is easier or harder depending on who you are.

Emotional balance

Interesting to note, however, is that in my inner circle the need for contemplation has been growing, the need to find out about the meaning of life as if more "spare" time has kindled that need. Moreover, many people have discovered the importance of enjoying nature a bit more.

Fantastic!! Contemplation (where I come from) is always a good thing and what I have learnt from that is to always look for emotional balance, to think before acting. That email just arriving in the mailbox .. it can wait till later or till tomorrow or till the day after. No rush. Of course I have the privilege of being in my golden years and there is never any hurry anymore, but still. Learning to include balance, stillness in one's life is truly a gift, a gift to be cherished.
